It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas

You can always count on Charley to make the most of a good time.

Sometimes getting in the holiday spirit is exhausting.
Just ask Ginger.

Even new girl Holly is enjoying the festivities.

Willie is too excited to hold still for a picture.

On to the next project

I found this old dresser sans mirror in my mother's garage a long time ago.  (And by garage I mean more like old barn exploration conditions.)  She can't remember where it comes from, but thinks she is the one who painted it yellow. I don't ever remember it being in the house. I striped off the yellow paint and was hoping to stain the wood, but I got discouraged when I found termite damage on the legs and put it back in the garage.

I've since had a spark of creativity roaming Pinterest, so I'm resurrecting it for a second life as a television stand.  I've filled the termite damage with wood filler and bought new veneer for the top.  Wish me luck on applying that once I get the rest of the old veneer off.

I'm thinking antiqued silver for an old Hollywood look.  I've ordered these awesome clear glass knobs.  It needed casters, too, since what was left of the casters was rusted and gross.

We will see how it goes.

Home Improvement Projects Update #1

I'm always looking for a good home improvement project, and lately it's been furniture facelifts.

Chair for My Vanity
I used Valspar metallic spray paint in Gold antiqued with two coats of Valspar translucent color glaze in Mocha.  I used the dry brush technique.  The upholstery job isn't the best, but I tried.  :)

Credenza
This project was my first attempt at antiquing.  I used Valspar satin interior paint in Leafy Rise antiqued with two coats of Valspar translucent color glaze in Mocha.  I slopped on the glaze with a sponge brush and then wiped away what I didn't want with paper towels.

Desk for Study

This was my second attempt with glaze.  I used Valspar interior satin paint in Posh Red with two coats of the mocha glaze again.  It is very subtle.  I could have used more coats of the mocha glaze or changed to the ebony for a darker affect.
